What Are My Billing and Payment Policies?

General Payment Policies

  • A mutually agreed upon and signed Islander Virtual Assistant WORK-FOR-HIRE AGREEMENT is REQUIRED before work begins. Please review the standard Work-For-Hire Agreement (use link in the sidebar to the right). The standard agreement will be modified to accommodate the specific project task(s) negotiated between the client and myself.
  • Payment in full is required 24 hours after completion of work. For very large projects, payment in installments may be considered.
  • PayPal and personal/corporate checks are the preferred form of payment. Checks should be made out to MICHAEL THOMAS GARRISON.
  • Currently, I only accept credit card payment via PayPal.
  • For credit card payments, I PREFER to use PAYPAL INVOICING, so invoices are submitted to clients (and payment is sent to me) via e-mail.
  • Work from international clients will only be accepted if the client's country is included in PayPal's international countries list, in order to ensure error-free transactions.
  • PLEASE NOTE: All rates/fees/prices are subject to change. A written notice of any such changes will be provided to existing clients.

 

Hourly-Rate Payment Policies

  • Hours are billed in 30-minute intervals.
  • There is a one half-hour minimum charge for all services using this method of billing.
  • Rush / Weekend / Holiday Services: Add 50 percent to the stated BASE RATE of any service. "Rush" service is when you need a project completed within 24 hours. Applies when you need me to work on a project over the weekend or during a holiday.
  • Half-Time Rate: In the event I have to learn how to use a program or service in order to complete your project, I will only charge you 50 percent of my hourly rate while I am still in the "learning curve". I will offer a mutually-agreed-upon discount for projects on which I am billing you on a flat-fee or retainer basis.

 

Monthly Retainer Payment Policies

  • Clients using a monthly retainer package are billed on the first day of each month.
  • UNUSED HOURS DO NOT EXPIRE: If you do not use all of a month's hours, any unused hours are carried over to the next month.
  • Once a monthly retainer's package hours have been used, any additional hours used that month will be billed at an agreed-upon HOURLY base rate.

Per-Project Payment Policies

Once we agree on the time to completion and the level of difficulty of the project in question, I can develop a CUSTOM SERVICE PACKAGE consisting of ONLY those services you specify and billed on a per-project basis (that is, with a fixed price). Many clients prefer this option because they know the maximum amount charged for a project before work begins. Contact me for a quote.

Refund Policy

I do NOT provide refunds for work deemed "unsatisfactory" by a customer. HOWEVER, upon completion of any project, I will be happy to review any aspect of my work with you and I will do my best to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have. I will then work with you to resolve issues or concerns that surface during such a review.


I would rather have you as a satisfied client than refund your fee.
